Bobbie, aka Ricky Bobbie, was one of my training horses in the Academy. Excellent horse to train, a really easy guy to be around but always made you work for it. He taught me a lot about keep horses excited and engaged in learning, especially the smarter horses. Generally speaking cow-bred horses have busy minds, are quite intelligent, and always looking for the boogie man in the pasture or arena. This is one of the reasons Clinton harps on folks to think about what they need in a horse. Most folks that weekend ride for pleasure and fun don't do well with sensitive, reactive and 'watchful' horses that are untrained. One of my favorite, although, startling memories was of introducing Bobbie to the pond on the ranch. After a good workout on the trails, we stopped for a cool drink of water. Bobbie walked 1 foot in and then springboard-ed into the water. All I can remember is seeing his ears above the water below me and wondering if he was going to come up to catch my seat. He did! All of these pictures are of great memories. Most are on graduation day and the other a couple months afterwards!
